Dismasted, but not in a bad way…
Great job this week, Jade from C9 Boat Services unstepped Puffin’s mast for a rig inspection.
Overall we’re very pleased with the rig, the mast in great condition, no signs of fatigue, standing rigging was also looking good, except for a lot of surface corrosion on the Sta-Lok terminals.
On closer inspection we found the corrosion to be very much on the surface and easily cleaned off, however, to be sure Jade contacted Sta-Lok who advised that we replace the formers and wedges, plus Jade decided to trim off the last 15mm of each wire to make sure we had a perfect termination.
Fantastic to have Jade on the team, a serious offshore sailor himself and my new rigging guru .. thanks all
